Preparing for the Future Homes Standard

Echelon Consultancy’s Consultant Building Surveyor, Yogesh Makwana, attended the Future Homes Standard Conference in Central London on Tuesday.

The conference brought together housing, construction, sustainability and property professionals to examine how the sector can prepare for the introduction of the Future Homes Standard.

Discussions focused on the practical implementation of the new requirements, which are due to come into force on 24 March 2027, followed by a 12-month transitional period.

Key themes included supply chain and workforce readiness, compliant design and delivery, low-carbon heating, solar technology, building safety and the transition from the Standard Assessment Procedure to the new Home Energy Model.

The conference also explored how early collaboration between clients, designers, contractors and supply chain partners can help organisations manage risk and prepare for the changing regulatory landscape.

Attending the event provided Yogesh and Echelon Consultancy with valuable insight into the technical and operational challenges facing housing providers as they work towards delivering warmer, safer and more energy-efficient homes.
