Echelon races to raise £7,910 at Herts Young Homeless track day

Echelon Group was proud to once again support Herts Young Homeless (hyh) as headline sponsor of its annual Charity Track Day, helping the event raise an outstanding £7,910 to support young people facing homelessness across Hertfordshire.

Held at Rye House Raceway, the event brought together 12 teams for a day of competitive karting, fundraising and plenty of friendly rivalry, all in aid of a charity doing vital work in the local community.

Echelon entered two teams into the competition, securing an impressive fourth place, alongside a slightly more modest eighth-place finish. The overall honours went to Etec Group, whose team took home the winner’s cup after a fiercely contested day on the track.

While there was plenty of competition between the teams, the real focus of the day was raising funds and awareness for hyh and its work to prevent youth homelessness.

Established in 1998, Echelon’s charity partner hyh supports young people across Hertfordshire through prevention, early intervention, crisis support and help with independent living. The charity says family breakdown is the biggest cause of youth homelessness and works with young people and their families to address problems before they reach crisis point.

Its services include education, mediation, homelessness prevention, housing advice and outreach. Its Homeless Hub works particularly closely with 16 and 17-year-olds and their families, while its outreach services provide housing-related advice and support to young people aged 18 to 24.

The scale of that work continues to grow. According to hyh, 16,334 people were supported through education, advice and support during 2025, while the charity has directly helped more than 5,400 young people facing homelessness over the past five years.

Looking ahead, hyh has set an ambitious goal through its Home 2030 strategy: to directly prevent homelessness for 2,500 young people and reduce the risk of homelessness for a further 60,000 young people in Hertfordshire by 2030.

Events such as the Charity Track Day provide valuable funding to help make that work possible, while bringing businesses together behind an important local cause.
